While editing often goes unnoticed by the audience, it is one of the most important aspects of a great production. It is where the narrative comes to life and the story’s emotions can really be brought out. Think of it as a puzzle with multiple possible final outcomes. Editing is similar to finding the right piece, cutting it to the right shape, and fitting it with other pieces to create the desired outcome. How the story flows, what it says, how it makes people feel, all of this is a result of how these pieces have been assembled.

Editing enhances or diminishes the impact of each shot, it gives a tone and color to the production, it creates laughter or sadness. At the end of the day, the quality of the editing can make or break a production, even if the production process was flawless until that point.
